16 Make good use of your time when doing writing tasks

When you have to write a response, for example in Write essay, check how much time you have and decide how much time you will use for planning, writing, and revising your response.

Use the Erasable Noteboard Booklet and pen to note your ideas and organize your response.

Check your plan as you write to make sure you have answered the entire question.

Be aware of the timer and make sure you leave some time to read through and edit your response. The timer in the upper right-hand corner of the screen will count down from 20 minutes in Write essay and from 10 minutes in Summarize written text.

Use correct punctuation for writing tasks: full stops, capital letters, commas, etc
Answer the question. If the question asks you to write or speak about sport, write or speak about ‘sport’ NOT ‘science’
Keep strictly within the word limit given for writing tasks
Respond quickly and keep speaking during speaking tasks. The microphone will close after 3 seconds of silence and stop recording
